MODERNITY AND TRADITIONS- Color of the white wall
Hanse Art Works 2019 Pskov, Ryssland

2019 representerade jag Visby under Hansedagarna i Pskov, Ryssland. På temat "Modernity and traditions" skapade jag denna bildserie som visades under Hansedagarna i Pskov 2019.

House, room and man. A tale about staying while the world around is changing.
A resistance to meet the new, modern and developed society. Instead she flees further into the interior, retires into her shell, lets it overtake  her and embrace her. She builds a barrier against what is outside. Builds her own island and vanishes in loneliness. The fight between the old safety inside the walls and what seems so threatening out there. A condition which can be both imprisoning and liberating.

By the support of Victoria Einardotter's creations is formed a character, who seems to have got stuck in this stagnant time, wrapped in coffee filters, drained in wax. A protection itself. It drops off her but still holds strongly back.
Also it can be hard to handle the room between tradition and modernismn. What is to hold on to? What is to be challenged? Is it allowed to withdraw and stand by side?
A skin over the skin. Builds its own island. In its head and in its room. Builds walls against intruders....
Or is it against herself?

I have worked with contradictions from my interpretation of the subject. To do just the opposite. To go against the stream. Not to fit in or to follow tradition to modernity. Not to find my place in the context.
